Where Does Your Power Come From?

your power

People talk a lot about power – or the lack of it. “She’s a powerful person.” “I want to feel more powerful.” “I was just so stuck (meaning no power to change the situation).”

Do you feel powerful?

Is it possible to get more power?

I’ve worked with so many clients who were searching to become more powerful. They wanted more strength and energy to make real changes in their businesses and lives.

I understand that. I was on the same search for a long time.

The mistake most people make is looking outside themselves for what they need to gain or to learn in order to do this. They’re searching for what they need to add in order to be more powerful.

The real key is that the source of your power is internal. It comes from your essence, the part that is eternal. And EVERYONE has it.

Great, so all we have to do is let it out, right?

Well, yes and no.

The short answer is yes, that’s all you have to do – let it flow.

The real question is how do you do THAT?

Holding Back the Flow

Imagine that you have an ocean of power inside you. (Trust me. You do.)

Now, imagine that there’s a pipe that conducts your power from deep in your core out to the surface where you can use it.

Just like arteries in the body or a house’s water pipes, if gunk gets stuck to the walls of the pipe, the opening narrows and less energy can fit through it.

Naturally, the more wide-open the pipe, the greater the flow.

Here are some things that narrow the pipe and restrict the flow. This is what makes “letting it flow” feel really hard and challenging.

Programming

The programming we’ve gotten over the course of our lives can vastly restrict our flow of power.

We’ve been trained to believe that change is scary, that we might lose something important if we push too far, become “too” powerful, or are “too much.”

We grew up with sayings like:

  • The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.
  • You have to work hard for money. It doesn’t grow on trees.
  • Easy come, easy go.
  • The tall poppy gets cut.

Maybe there was a time and place when fitting in was the way to survive. It seems reasonable, doesn’t it?

The thing is that blending in can kill your business.

People can’t find you if you’re hiding. They don’t know who you are and what makes you special if you’re trying not to stand out.

The Pursuit of Safety

You may be wondering what’s wrong with being safe. There’s nothing wrong with it. Plus, what I’m talking about here is the pursuit of safety.

Safety as a goal comes from fear. It means that you don’t believe that you’re safe now, that you can actually achieve your goals.

Fear and anxiety come from looking down the road. You’re anticipating problems that may or may not happen. And you’re assuming that if they happen, you won’t be able to handle them.

Fear constricts your pipes by ruling out possibilities before they’re big enough to know if they’ll work or not.

Fear says, “I can handle success if it looks like this and comes in this way.” That’s a pretty narrow opening for abundance to try to get through.

Lack of Confidence

One of the biggest constrictors of your power pipeline is the lack of confidence.

Imagine the Universe giving you money-making ideas one after the other and every time you say, “No, I can’t.” The same thing happens with new opportunities. “No, I can’t.”

The Universe is there to support you and believes what you tell it. So when you say, “No, I can’t”, the Universe says, “Okay, got it! You can’t. No more of that.”

On the other hand, when you get an inspiration and you say, “Ok, I’ll try. I’m nervous, I don’t know if I can do it, and I’ll try.” the Universe says, “Yes! You’re going for it. More of that!”

Opening the Pipeline

I work with clients both one-on-one and in groups to open their pipelines for more access to their power. This also creates more flow in their lives.

In fact, I’m going to lead a group soon on doing this specifically in relation to money. (Sign up here to be on the first-to-know list.)

For now, take a moment and imagine what it would be like to have your pipeline fully open and connected. Having easy, abundant flow.

How does that feel? What can you do when you have this flow? How does your body feel?
