The Difference Between Believing Something… And Experiencing It

There are so many things that we believe in our lives. For instance, we believe that it is okay for women to own their own businesses. We believe that it is okay to be successful and we believe that we deserve to make a good living.

These thoughts may sink down about as deep as the level of our eyes. These are brain-deep thoughts, thoughts that still exist only in the logical area of our brains.

It’s a different thing to believe these thoughts with our brain and to completely resonate with a particular belief at our core.

Where are the Blocks?

20736020_sWhen you truly resonate with a belief, it comes from a much deeper place, the cellular level. To get to that cellular level, you have to release the things that are blocking it.

The blocks might be thoughts like, “My family are blue collar workers. No one in my family has ever been successful with their own business. It’s not okay for a child to be more successful than her parent. If I have a lot of money, it means I’m not a spiritual person. If I have a lot of money, I’ll be spend it all or turn into a jerk.”

That’s where I do a lot of work with my clients. We release the thoughts and feelings that keep something a logical belief instead of something with which they deeply resonate.

We look at what’s going on in their lives, what they’re experiencing. It might be procrastination at work, dread about sitting down to write a blog post, or fear of raising prices.

The things that are in the way naturally come up during the session. Sometimes we don’t even know specifically what they are – and that’s okay in this kind of work. We look at where you are and where you want to be, and then we clear what’s standing in the way.

My clients make statements at the end of the session that they might have said they “agree with” at the beginning. Like, “I choose to be open to new possibilities for myself and my business” or “I’m confident, clear and grounded.”

But when they make those statements at the end of the session, it has a whole new clarity and resonance to it. They know and feel it at the cellular level.

Take off the Armor

When you experience a belief, when you resonate with it, changes begin to happen. That’s when you’re able to create new things in your life and take your business to the next level.

When you don’t feel safe, you construct armor around yourself for protection. Armor keeps things out… but it also keeps us in. It’s not selective about which things stay out, either. Just like physical armor, emotional armor keeps out the harmful things, but it also keeps out things like hugs, support and real connection.

When you don’t feel safe in the world, you can’t let new things in. That includes new clients and new opportunities. You also can’t let yourself be seen, and let yourself out, so it hinders your ability to create.

I have clients who, after a session of work together, say that they feel like they have released a heavy piece of armor. They say there is almost a physical sensation that goes with it. And of course it does! Armor has weight to it. You have to tense your muscles in order to bear the weight, and that tension doesn’t allow flow. It doesn’t allow creation with ease.

This week, I invite you to look at where you are in your business and where you would like to be. What’s keeping you from getting where you would like to go? What blocks are in the way?
